Trustees pass budget; direct Administration to continue Salary & Benefits negotiations

This afternoon Fordham’s Trustees passed the University’s budget for 2018, but also directed the Administration to continue negotiating with the Faculty Salary and Benefits Committee through next Friday, April 27th, 5pm. That’s an absurdly short period of time given the complexity of healthcare plan negotiations and provisions, but if the Administration is open to real negotiating, this could be progress. Thanks to all of you who have shown up for rallies, written letters, and worked so hard on behalf of Fordham faculty and staff, and the students and communities they serve.

The Board of Trustees luncheon meeting was met with protests by Fordham faculty students and staff, who gathered outside of the Walsh Library to express their concern about the proposed healthcare cuts, that departs from the University’s traditions of “cura personalis,” the care of others as central to the mission of the univeristy.
